Week 3, Term 2

Last week we started a new tech art. We are doing design which is woodwork and hard materials. We are going to be making and cutting out the first letter of our first name, and making it light up with LED lights.
We also had music camp last week over Wednesday and Thursday. We had rehearsal from ten o'clock until seven thirty on Wednesday, and on Thursday it was rehearsal all day, nine o'clock to three o'clock. Just normal school hours. We then had to come back at six thirty to set up for the concert, tune our instruments, and get ready with your instrument group. I played the trumpet. We had to play nine different songs including Rolling In The Deep, Skyfall and The Final Countdown. Two were combined with the choir, Hang On Sloopy and I Will Follow Him. Even though we didn't stay the night, it was still a camp because we were joined with Matamata and Cambridge intermediates, who did stay the night.

Week 2, Term 2

Last week we learnt how to find, group and simplify like terms in algebra. We also learnt how to write arguments and how to use the correct structure in a piece of writing. I also learnt something in P.E. It was involving volleyball. I learnt how to do a proper bump, which is when you place one hand on top of the other, and hit the ball between the end or your wrist, and you elbow, with your palms facing up. In tech arts, I learnt about how to paint Maori koru designs and their meanings within their patterns, to represent people in your family. For instance the Mango pare, is a pattern designed after the great white shark. It resembles strength and is a sign of being tough. We had to use three different colours to blend into each other for the background. In Te Reo we did a test to see how many Maori words we knew out of the fifty given.

Week 1, Term 2

Last week we started algebra. We learnt how to draw up the proper tables and line graphs. We also learnt how to find the rule and how to write it out properly. Also for writing, we learnt about how to write letters. We did it as a letter to the editor on an article about letting children ride bikes on footpaths.
My goals for this term are:
Maths: To learn how to work with fractions and decimals, I also want to learn to write better, longer learning reflections.
Literacy: I want to read a bigger range of books for reading, and use better, bigger vocabulary.
I'm looking forward to all the exciting things happening this term.
