Week 1, Term 4

This is the first week back for term 4 after the holidays.

My goals for this term are:
Reading: To read a different variety of books and not just the same kind all the time.
Writing: To use better vocab in my writing and use more complex sentences, and not just simple ones.
Maths: To improve all of my maths and also to write better learning reflections.

This term I really want to try and improve in all subjects, and extend all of my knowledge.

Week 7, Term 3

Last week we learnt how to find the different angles and how to name them, such as obtuse, acute, reflex, revolution and straight. We also learnt about polygons and the number of triangle inside different shapes. If a shape had five sides it has three triangles, because you just take away two. Then you do the number of triangles (three) and multiply it by 180, so the angle amount would be 540. We also started a new tech art- science. We learnt about forces and motions and why objects don't move once they hit the ground. We also learnt about different tastes, such as bitter, bland, sour, sweet and salty.

Week 4, Term 3

Last week we, learnt about area in maths. We learnt how to find the circumference and area of circles. We also learnt about how to find the area of 3D shapes and cylinders. We also learnt about how to write a short story analysis properly. In P.E we were also doing a lot of cross country, because we have it next week in week 6. Last week we also had the band festival. I played in the symphonic band and jazz band. Our symphonic band got gold, and our jazz band got silver.

Week 3, Term 3

Last week in maths we were learning about circles. We learnt about the different parts like radius and diameter. We also learnt about how to find the circumference and the area of circles. We also had our student led conference last week. On Wednesday we also learnt about first aid. Because St John's first aid came to our school, to show us about first aid. We learnt about the recovery position, how to do CPR and mouth to mouth. We also learnt how to deal with burns, bleeding and broken bones, and we were taught how to bandage a wound up properly. In band, we were practising for the festival this week. In tech arts we also learnt about how to make a pillow case. First, we had to make a picture or a design. Then, we had to draw it on to a piece of fabric with a vivid, and then we painted it. After that, we had to iron it and sew on Velcro strips to finish it off.

Week 2, Term 3

Last Week we learnt how to find the perimeter of different shapes. You just find the missing side measurements, and then you add them all up. I also learnt how to convert metric measurements, like meters, centimetres. millimetres, and kilometres. In literacy, we are learning how to properly write a book review, but this time we are using short stories, so it's a short story analysis. In tech arts we made a soft tennis ball and a pencil case, and now we are working on a pillow case. We have also been doing a lot of cross country running for p.e, and now we do it instead of jump jam. We are also writing our speeches, and some of shared our inquiry presentation about the Holocaust.

Week 1, Term 3

Last week was the first week of term 3. In maths, we had to do a test on area and perimeter, and then we had to work on our gaps. I learnt how to name different shapes like a parallelogram and a rhombus. I also learnt about right angles, obtuse angles, acute angles, reflex angles and straight angles. We started a new tech art as well. Fabric/soft materials. I learnt how to hand sew and use an over locker, and I have already made two soft tennis balls.

Week 9, Term 2

Last week in maths we learnt how to convert fractions into decimals and decimals into percentages. You just divide the numerator by the denominator to find your decimal, and then move the decimal point two places to find your percentage. We also learnt how to do ratio, which is a lot like fractions, just written in a different way.
In tech arts, i learnt how to make a box. First, I cut out the wood pieces and nailed them together, then I cut out out the lid. And finally, I screwed hinges on to make it open and close. All of the production people were out last week, so we had a lot of people from room fourteen in our class.
